Candidates must be in good overall health and be free of any medical conditions that could interfere with the healing process.Adequate Fat
Candidates for fat grafting must have a sufficient amount of excess fat to be used for the procedure. If not, our plastic surgeon may recommend alternative options for augmentation.Nonsmoker
Smoking significantly increases the risk of complications occurring during plastic surgery. We require patients to stop smoking for an allotted period of time before they can qualify for fat transfer.What to Expect during the Fat Transfer Procedure
The fat transfer surgery usually lasts between two and four hours, depending on the extent of work being done.

The recovery process will differ depending on whether you undergo a breast or buttock enhancement. Our plastic surgeon will provide instructions on how to recover quickly after a butt lift or breast augmentation, as well as schedule your follow-up appointments. Dr. Robles makes himself available 24/7 by phone to answer any questions or concerns you may have during your recovery process.
Side Effects
You should expect to experience swelling and bruising during the first week. This should begin to fade by the second week, but you are likely to still have some swelling in treated areas. In most cases, there will be a significant improvement in seven to ten days.
Activity
Patients should rest and refrain from any strenuous activity for at least the first few days following surgery. Most patients are able to return to work one to two weeks after the fat transfer surgery, but we encourage you to take your time and return at your discretion.

In some cases, more than one procedure is necessary to achieve the desired results. Dr. Robles may need to overfill the treated areas, as some amount of the injected fat may be reabsorbed. As the final results become apparent, the grafted areas will appear fuller and softer, and your skin texture may improve as well. Touch-up procedures are sometimes required if a percentage of the fat does not take, but this varies from person to person.
